Within Colorado law, numerous protections for care workers already exist, and in theory, many of the issues in the industry should not be possible. However, this is far from reality. While there are laws that, among other things, protect workers against wage theft and guarantee paid sick time, violations often go unreported or under-enforced due to a lack of resources or complications within the system. As a result, bad bosses and dishonest actors violate the law on a daily basis at the expense of care workers and their clients with little to no consequence.

By strengthening these laws and creating accessible mechanisms for care workers to understand their legal rights and report violations, we can ensure that they are properly enforced to create a strong, fair care industry for Coloradans.
